SUMMARY:Letters of Love NEW COMPASSION MISSION in response to the Coronavirus! Please share!
DESCRIPTION:Hello SHBHU Families\, \nIt’s Ambassador(s) Anne Marie\, Mia\, Will\, Jack\, Gracie\, Anella and Malia here!   We have another Compassion Mission that has been sparked that we want to tell you all about called\, Letters of Love. We have contacted Woodland Terrace Senior Living Community\, Cambridge Village of Apex Retirement Home here in Cary\, NC and also the nonprofit Love for the Elderly (https://lovefortheelderly.org/letters) . All 3 places are very excited to hear that SHBHU Small Handers and Ambassadors are wanting to send love to our Senior Citizens who may be experiencing loneliness and isolation during this Coronavirus Pandemic.  They have all driectly told us that they have their own strict Coronovirus protocols for the letters once received.  So send away!   \nSocial distancing is being strongly encouraged right now for some very important reasons but this causes a few other unfortunate things to happen as well.  It can cause food and financial insecurity and also increased loneliness and depression for many\, especially our beautiful Senior Citizens. We have included below a couple links of links for tips on dealing with anxiety and stress during a pandemic.  WHAT CAN ALL OF US DO RIGHT NOW TO HELP?   \nWe can make sure our Senior Citizens know they are loved and especially not forgotten during this difficult and ever changing time.  So\, let’s write some letters of love straight from your home to their home! Let’s make them feel loved and not forgotten. You know without a doubt it will end up making someone smile and maybe even laugh out loud! See addresses below for local and global outreach.  Send some to all 3 places every week if you can! If you need stamps provided by SHBHU please contact us at info@shbhu.org or the Bartley Family at lisahubbardbartley@gmail.com.  Please share! It will make your heart feel happy too! \nThank you! \nAmbassadors Anne Marie\, Mia\, Will\, Jack\, Grace\, Anella and Malia \nWoodland Terrace Senior Living Community \nAttn to Stephie Watts\, Wellness Department \n300 Kildaire Woods Drive \nCary NC 27511 \nEmailing letters us this email address:  Stephie.Watts@kiscosl.com \n  \nCambridge Village of Apex \n10000 Cambridge Loop \nApex\, NC 27502 \nLegacy House of Centennial Hills\n6310 North Durango Drive\nLas Vegas\, NV 89149\nC/O Cindy Bordner\, Activity Director \nLove For The Elderly \nP.O Box 24248 \nCleveland\, OH 44124 \n  \nhttps://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/coping.html \n  \nhttps://store.samhsa.gov/system/files/sma14-4885.pdf

SUMMARY:WAYS TO HELP OTHERS DURING THIS TIME OF THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC
DESCRIPTION:Hello SHBHU Community\, \nThe compassionate SHBHU Bartley family has been very proactive in finding the following links to organizations that are helping those who are being terribly affected by Covid-19.  Below are the links to organizations they have found. Please feel free to share with any other organizations you work closely with and help out in any way you can. \nMany of our SHBHU Nonprofit Partners that Ambassadors and Small Handers have we been collabortaing with to  create new 2020 Compassion Missions (ie. Integrated Child Services India Pictorial Dictionaires\, Read and Feed Serving Smiles\, STEAM Panther Creek compassion mission and the SPCA PAWS for Compassion Dog/Car wash) have asked us to pause for now and give them time to focus on their maintaining their own missions. As you can imagivne\, they are all overwhelmed so we will do what they have asked us to do. \nLastly\, let’s also remember that social distancing doesn’t just cause food and financial insecurity\, but can also lead to increased loneliness and depression.  Also included below are a couple links to tips for dealing with anxiety during a pandemic. Please share with others that you may worry might have heightened emotional stress right now. \nThank you Bartley Family for this information and  thank you to all for your help and understanding during this time.\nPeace!\nSHBHU Leadership Team\n\nManaging Anxiety and Stess during Infectious Disease Outbreaks\n\nhttps://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/coping.html\n\n\nhttps://store.samhsa.gov/system/files/sma14-4885.pdf\n\n\n\n\n\nLinks to help others \n\nhttps://dorcascary.org/food-pantry-needs-2/\n\n\n\nhttps://support.savethechildren.org/site/Donation2?df_id=4008&4008.donation=form1\n\n\n\n\nhttps://secure.foodbankcenc.org/site/Donation2?df_id=10523&mfc_pref=T&10523.donation=form1&chosen=60&s_src=headerbutton&s_subsrc=website\n\n\n\n\nhttps://secure.directrelief.org/site/Donation2?df_id=2924&mfc_pref=T&2924.donation=form1\n\n\nhttps://disasterphilanthropy.org/donate-to-the-cdp-covid-19-response-fund/\n\n\nhttps://www.globalgiving.org/projects/coronavirus-relief-fund/\n\n\nhttps://give.cdcfoundation.org/give/269833/#!/donation/checkout?c_src=BCFU0\n\n\nhttps://give2asia.org/donate-coronavirus-fund/\n\n\nhttps://secure.feedingamerica.org

SUMMARY:WIGS FOR KIDS COMPASSION MEETING FAMILY NIGHT FUNRAISER led by Ambassador Safiya!
DESCRIPTION:WIGS FOR KIDS COMPASSION MISSION\n\n\nAmbassador President Safiya is in the 11th grade at Cary Academy where she is on the Varsity Tennis team! Her hobbies include painting\, tennis\, hanging out with friends\, playing board games with family. “I’m really interested in becoming a doctor and being able to help people through the medical field. I spend a lot of time volunteering in the medical community and I’m really interested in trying to bring some of that to SHBHU. I’m also very interested in biology; it’s my favorite class.”\n\n\nSafiya is looking to raise funds for an organization based out of her old home\, Cleveland\, Ohio\, called “Wigs for Kids”. This organization looks to raise money and collects donated hair to create wigs for children who are facing diseases that cause hair loss\, as wigs are surprisingly expensive. So far\, she has partnered with Krispy Kreme Donuts and sold boxes of donuts to raise money for the cause and is now looking to work out a partnership with Moes as well! Please reach out to her at safiya_alvi@caryacademy.org if you’re interested in getting involved or have any ideas on ways to help.  She would love for you to come to the Moe’s Family Night Fundraiser on Dec 12th from 5-8pm at the Arboretum location on 127 Weston Parkway\, Cary\, NC.  It is an OPEN HOUSE MEET AND GREET and raising money for Wigs for Kids!\n\n#AllAreAlwaysWelcome\n\nPlease spread the word TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS and FAMILY and try to plan on coming for ANY amount of time you can to support our inspiring Ambassador President who always supports everyone else!  Safiya will lead a Compassion Meeting in the back corner at Moes starting at 5pm and have a raffle to raise money for her Wigs for Kids Compassion Mission. You can win $25 of Moes Money and FREE PDQ Shakes! IF YOU CAN”T MAKE IT\, no worries\, just make a donation of any amount on the website at the COMPASSION STORE and be entered automatically!  https://www.shbhu.org/store/

SUMMARY:Compassionate Closets Compassion Missions with Note in the Pocket - Hearts to Smiles Committee Copy Copy
DESCRIPTION:Hello SHBHU Families! It’s Ambassador Director Emma M!\nI hope you are all having a great year so far! We have some exciting news! More compassionate sparks have been ignited by Small Handers and Ambassadors in the Triangle community. Their hearts have been drawn to a very special and impactful nonprofit\, Note in the Pocket.  These Lead SHBHU families want to continue to grow the present SHBHU Compassion Mission\, Compassionate Closets in our Hearts to Smiles committee. As you all know\, this was started when Small Handers and Ambassadors organized a clothing drive for those impacted by Hurricane Florence. What better way to continue that compassion and partner with Note in the Pocket! NITP’s mission is amazing!  “Providing clothing to impoverished and homeless school children in Wake County with dignity and love.”\nCheck out here the video link.  they provided us.\nSimilar to our other nonprofits partners\, they are giving us additional SHBHU volunteer opportunities for us to place on our SHBHU Core Calendar for all of the Triangle community. They agree with us that children are instinctively compassionate\, and that we need to nurture that. We need to help make volunteering accessible to all in every way we possibly can. So much like our Compassion Missions at Oak City Cares\, Ronald McDonald House\, and the CPO Food Pantry\, we have created another core calendar SHBHU volunteer day for Note in the Pocket.\nThis on-site volunteer opportunity will be for Ambassadors 12 years of age and older.  You will be sorting out clothes and creating “mini wardrobes” in unique sizes for multiple children in need and placing loving notes in the pockets! 🙂 Unfortunately\, but understandable\, NITP can only offer this specific volunteer opportunity to those 12 years of age and older.\n\n\nVERY IMPORTANT DETAILS:\n\n\nYour volunteer time for your designated SHBHU group is from 10:30-12:30at our Volunteer Center located at 5100 Lacy Avenue\, Raleigh 27609. Lacy Avenue is a side street off Millbrook Road between Old Wake Forest Rd and Atlantic Avenue. It is a white building with black awnings.\n\n\nParking is very limited and we suggest that people carpool (there is parking behind the building if necessary)\n\n\nSince we have this unique partnership with NITP\, everyone who is participating will ALSO need to register online on the SPECIFIC NOTE IN THE POCKET site as a new volunteer  (if they do not register they cannot participate. Everyone should wear closed toed shoes. You also need to register on the SHBHU site. It only all takes a couple of minutes.\n\n\nPlease have new volunteers register at leastthree days beforetheir scheduled event.\n\n\nHere is the Lin:  https://noteinthepocket.org/get-involved/volunteer=\n\nOTHER WAYS YOUR YOUNGER AMBASSADORS AND SMALL HANDERS CAN BE INVOLVED! \n\n\nSHBHU makes every act of kindness accessible to children of all ages.  So\, if there are some Ambassadors and Small Handers who can’t make the actual volunteer day becuase of age or logistics\, you can STILL be involved.\n\n\nOthers can lead a SHBHU neighborhood clothing summer collection drives\, fundraisers\,SHBHU neighborhood car washes\, bake sale\, etc etc. SHBHU will assist you in all of this if you would like. Contact us!  The Ambassadors who are registered to volunteer on the specific NITP SHBHU Compassionate Closet days can deliver the funds raised and/or clothing collected that day FOR YOU! Just message SHBHU with the pick up location! It takes about $140 per child and $700 for 5 students to create these mini-wardrobes of clothes and love in their unique size.\n\n\nUPCOMING FALL EVENT! SHBHU will be discussing with NITP about organizing a large OFF-SITE HOLIDAY Mobile Volunteer SHBHU Clothing Drive closer to the Thanksgiving and Christmas. This will be similar to Stop Hunger Now/Rise Against Hunger’s format. You can see what this is all about below. We hopefully can partner in compassion with our partners at Green Hope High School\, Peak Charter Academy\, Thales Academy and Panther Creek when this time comes.SEE LINK HERE. https://noteinthepocket.org/mobile-volunteer-program/\n\n\n\n\nSincerely\,\nAmbassador Director Emma Murtaugh

“Providing clothing to impoverished and homeless school children in Wake County with dignity and love.”\nCheck out here the video link.  they provided us.\nLike with out other nonprofits partners\, they are giving us additional SHBHU volunteer opportunities for us to place on our SHBHU Core Calendar for all of the Triangle community.
