SUMMARY:Christmas Cards for SOLDIERS! We need your help in making 24 cards!
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE and CHANGE to the Christmas Cards for Soldiers Compassion Event\n\n\n \n\n\nWe are asking Small Handers and Ambassador to help make 24 Christmas cards for our US soldiers again this year! The SHBHU Wolfenbarger family is requesting the Christmas cards be sent to 24 soldiers in the 430th NC Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal Company that was deployed to Afghanistan in April 2018 and expected to return early Spring 2019. \n\n\n \n\n\nDue to the busy time of year\, we have decided to ask families who have some time to ask their Small Handers and Ambassadors to make these cards on their own at home THIS WEEK before FRIDAY. Please drop off all cards at 214 Castle Hayne Drive. There will be a bin left at front door for you to place the cards in. If you need us to pick them up we can make that work as well and please message SHBHU at Anita@shbhu.org

SUMMARY:Hurricane Relief Compassion Meeting-OCTOBER 22nd! OPEN SWIM FUNDRAISER following meeting!
DESCRIPTION:Hello SHBHU Ambassadors and Small Handers! \nIt’s Ambassador Emma Murtaugh here again with some exciting news! \nWe had a local SHBHU family propose a COMPASSIONATE idea to partner with a school in New York called Clarkstown South High School. Let’s all join this team for a great cause! \nThey are fundraising to send gift cards to SHBHU so we can send them to our neighboring students and teachers impacted by Hurricane Florence.  They have already raised a lot of money!  So kind! They want us to join them in this fundraiser and collection drive. \nThis is a wonderful chance to show compassion and raise a lot of money for our NC friends hurting right now. One school who we will be helping said they have 96 teachers in their district who lost EVERYTHING!  The number of students in need is even higher!  The SHBHU adult leadership will of course assist us but we will need you to help us take off running with it if you want to be on this team. \nLastly\, we will also be having out Quarterly OPEN HOUSE Compassion Meeting at Goldfish Swim School on Kildaire Farm Rd on October 22nd from 6-8pm.  Bring a non-perishable food donation or an item on the list below we were given by NC schools in need!  At the meeting\, we will welcome all interested and new members\, all of our NEW Green Hope High School and Oak Grove Ambassadors\, update everyone on all past and present Compassion Missions and of course have a Hurricane Relief COMPASSION PROJECT! At 7pm\, donate $5 to the “5 for Florence” Hurricane Relief Compassion Project or bring a donation item below and you will even be able to SWIM for a bit!  It is going to be a FUN meeting. Join us! \nSHBHU\, for the community and run by the community! \nThanks Ambassadors! \nEmma Murtaugh\, Social Media Lead Director \nNHCS HURRICANE FLORENCE RELIEF DONATION LIST\nSCHOOL SUPPLIES \nBookbags\nCopier Paper\nConstruction Paper (various colors)\nPaper (wide and college ruled)\nNotebooks (single\, spiral and composition)\nNotecards\n#2 Pencils\, pens (black or blue)\, markers\, crayons\, colored pencils\, highlighters and pencil\nsharpeners\nDry erase markers\n3-Prong Pocket Folders and plain Pocket Folders\nGlue Sticks\nScissors\nKleenex\nHand Sanitizer\nClorox and Lysol Wipes\nK-1 Classroom Rugs\nBean Bags\nBookshelves\nOversized Pillow\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://www.ccsd.edu/south

SUMMARY:Annua SHBHU Java Jive Jog is BACK! August 25th 2018 8:00am
DESCRIPTION:Triangle Families\, \nHello! It is Ambassador Emma Murtaugh and I have some amazing news! \nWe are very excited to announce the 4th annual SHBHU Small Hands Big Hearts Java Jive Jog 10k/5k on August 25th!  For three years we have partnered with Java Jive to organize this FUN race. It is always a HUGE success and a VERY memorable race morning! Through the community and Sponsor support and participation in this race\, kindness and generosity\, the SHBHU’s mission to nurture children’s instinctive compassion continues year after year. \nAs many of you know\, SHBHU provides accessible year-round volunteer opportunities and also is a resource for our youth to to propose\, lead and organize Compassion Projects for inspiring causes their hearts are personally drawn to. SHBHU is for the ENTIRE  community and run by the community. Together\, we will nurture the next philanthropic and kind generation who will be leading the world. \nThis year we also have a VERY SPECIAL added entity to our race. We have also partnered with the Mariam Clinic in Cary. We are so grateful for their partnership and support. They will be helping us obtain Race Day Sponsors\, volunteering\, attending the race so that we can continue the SHBHU mission in our community. Thank you Mariam Clinic!  We are so thankful for you! \nThe Mariam Clinic has very special story as well. They began seeing patients on October 21\, 2007. Now\, more than 2\,000 uninsured patients later\, the clinic is still one of the only non-emergency room options for healthcare available on Sundays. The Mariam Clinic is an interfaith health care organization pioneering in an integrated approach to health and well-being. The goal of this special clinic is to provide culturally sensitive healthcare for the uninsured and build a healthier society through: \n  \n\n\nService – providing free medical care to the uninsured \n\n\nResponsibility – helping patients to help themselves through preventive health care programs \n\n\nInteraction – bringing together diverse volunteers who find common ground through achieving these goals. \n\n\nYou can read more about the very important and inspiring work they do for our community on their website by \nJust as in the previous years\, in order to be accessible and include EVERYONE\, there will be a 5k run/walk and also a 10k run.  We will also again have FREE REGISTRATION CODES for anyone with special needs (physical and financial) who would like to join us that day in the race.  Our Ambassador Teen Buddies are also on standby and excited to be by anyones side walking or running the race.  Please contact Anita Pease on the website CONTACT tab for a FREE CODE and a name and contact information for one of our Ambassador Buddies.  Registration race morning only accepts CHECK or CASH via FS Series.  We can’t wait to see you there! \nREGISTER HERE \nSincerely\, \nEmma Murtaugh\, Ambassador Teen Director\, Social Media
