DESCRIPTION:Join SHBHU on the third Sunday of every month serving meals with a smile to those experiencing homelessness in the Downtown Raleigh area. OCOC is the result of many organizations working together in an effort to help close the hunger gap! SHBHU volunteers will bring food\, drinks\, and paper products to help support the main meal. Volunteers arrive at OCOC at 1:00pm to help set up the food line and we are usually finished cleaning up about 2:30pm. Volunteers will receive an email a couple days prior with specifics on what to bring with them. Any age can volunteer and serve with a smile!

You will be able to join her in MANY ACCESSIBLE WAYS (see volunteer opps below) in her UPCOMING ODAAT in partnership with the Athens Drive Magnet High School Backpack Buddies program! \nThis program serves approximately 30 Athens Drive students who otherwise would not have food during non-school days. The program discretely distributes backpacks filled with food each Friday. The backpacks are returned empty on Monday and then reused each week. DESCRIPTION:Come and join SHBHU in this compassion mission to help serve meals to those in the Downtown Raleigh area at the Oak City Outreach Center (OCOC). OCOC is the outcome of the continual efforts to provide food assistance to individuals who are experiencing homelessness and/or lack of food on a daily basis in downtown Raleigh. Their goal is to help “close the hunger gap together.” SHBHU has partnered with OCOC to help serve meals on the third Sunday of every month. Please arrive at 1:00 PM to help set up food that will be served from 1:30-2:15 and then clean up until 2:30 PM. We will be serving food that is generously donated by another organization. However SHBHU would like to supplement this meal with beverages\, dessert\, and paper products. Once registration is full\, a sign up with items needed will be emailed to you.

This time the Small Handers will be collecting diapers for those babies affected by Hurricane Harvey and Irma. DESCRIPTION:We are so excited about  the 3rd annual SHBHU Small Hands Big Hearts Java Jive Jog 10k/5k!  For two years we have partnered with Java Jive to organize this FUN fundraiser.  It is always a HUGE success and VERY memorable race morning! \nThank you in advance for your support of the Small Hands Big Hearts United mission by attending this race! Through your participation race morning\, kindness and generosity through the year\, SHBHU is able to be a year round accessible resource for children and teens to show compassion.  SHBHU is an accessible community resource for additional youth volunteer opportunities but also a resource for them to to propose\, lead and organize Compassion Missions for causes they are personally passionate about. All are welcome in SHBHU!  Together\, we can all help grow the next philanthropic and kind generation leading the world. \nThere will be two runs again this year to help raise money to continue making Compassion Missions accessible to the ENITRE community.  In order to include people of all abilities we will have a 5k Run/Walk and a 10k Run.  We also have a FREE REGISTRATION CODE for any child with ANY SPECIAL NEED who would like to participate in the race.  Our Ambassador Teem Buddies are also on standby by\, ready\, set and excited to be by your side on race morning. Please contact SHBU for the FREE code and a name and contact information for an Ambassador Buddy if you need one! \nThe 5k and 10k will begin at 8:00am on Saturday\, August 26th.  Don’t forget if you are registering race morning ONLY CHECK or CASH accepted per FS Series. \nRACE COURSE\nThe rave will start at Java Jive Lochmere Pavillion and will proceed east on Lochmere Drive. You will go through the Lochwood West neighborhood\, and return to the Lochmere Pavillion.  The 10k will be two laps around the same course.  T-shirts and awards will be provided for a range of ages. All are welcome. Have some fun\, be entered into some amazing raffles and also learn all about past and present Compassion Missions and the upcoming Java Jive Jog 10k/5k! Small Hander and Ambassador Information panel will be there to answer any questions you have! \nAmbassador Vice President Safiya and her Hearts and Hugs Across Borders Team will also be there collecting more eyeglasses for our friends in India.
