SUMMARY:Hearts and Hands Across Borders SHBHU CAR WASH July 9th 1-4pm Location: Raleigh Orthopedics
DESCRIPTION:Hello Fellow Ambassadors and Small Handers\, \nIf you don’t know me\, my name is Safiya Alvi. I am a Cary Academy Charger and I am the Ambassador Vice President in Small Hands Big Hearts United. Ambassador Tonya and I are leading an India Expansion Initiative within the Hearts and Hugs Across Borders Committee. For those of you who do not know\, the HHAB committee focuses on compassion across borders. In just 3 years\, we have touched the lives of others in the Philippines\, Haiti\, Dominican Republic\, Thailand\, Syria and now INDIA!  Tonya and I are basically merging our two Compassion Missions (“Techy Hearts for India” and “Eyeglasses for India”)  into one cause. Tonya and I are starting this expansion off with ONE LARGE SHBHU fundraiser this Summer A FUN CAR WASH at Raleigh Orthopedics on Edward Mills Rd from 1-4pm. If you are volunteering to help in way please be there at 12:30pm to set up. We would love for you to join us that day!  The address to Raleigh Orthopedics is:3001 Edwards Mill Road\, Raleigh\, NC 27612\, \nPLEASE CLICK HERE FOR THE SIGN UP GENIUS ON WAYS WE NEED YOUR HELP! \nThe last thing we were planning on having is a continuation of the eyeglasses collection drive. We will have a Drop Off Spot in the parking lot  in addition to everything else that day. We have acquired 4 MrEyeDr Optometrist Offices with  that have kindly sponsored this fundraiser and allowing drop off boxes at front desk in their offices.  The addresses are here below if you can stop buy and drop off those used eyeglasses that are just laying around your home. End time of eyeglass collection drive is pending. You can also bring any old pair of eyeglasses to the car wash that you would like to donate! Thank you so much for your help! \n\n3214 Charles B. Root Wynd Ste 120\n800 W Williams St. (apex)\n3603 Davis Drive (Morrisville)\n8231 Brier Creek Pkwy\n\nSincerely\,         \nSafiya Alvi \nAmbassador Passing The Torch Vice President  \n  \nHere is a little information on how these two Compassion Missions started! \n“Techy Hearts for India” \n“Hi\, I am Tonya Hakim\, and i am 11 years old. I will be 12 in July. I want to be in SHBHU because it helps people who are in need of help and every one in Small Hands is caring. I want to help India because they need a lot of help. A lot of people there are living in a slum village and don’t get access to good things like we are. They need help and we can help them if we try.” \nThis Compassion Mission originated from a very heartfelt place. Tonya’s family visited India last year and they were all drawn to helping the children at the Brighter Futures School in New Delhi\,India. Tonya’s family  collected many books for these children and raised $420 last year for the summer camp in India that these children go to. They wanted to continue raising money this year for these children in need. By using SHBHU and it’s leadership mentors as a resource\, together we have acquired an amazing Partner named Christian Ebersol with Comcast Ventures! Mr. Ebersol is leading a LARGE 2017 fundraiser to raise $8000.00 for a new computer lab for these children at Brighter Futures and he has asked us to partner with him to reach this goal!  Thank you Mr. Ebersol!  CLICK HERE to learn more about Mr. Ebersol and his experience at Brighter Futures and the amazing fundraiser he began that we are helping him with. We are very excited to help reach this amazing goal! \n“Eyeglasses for India” \nThis Compassion Mission started in much the same way. I joined SHBHU about a year and a half ago and I have LOVED it. I first found SHBHU when I was looking up volunteer opportunities around the NC area. When I saw SHBHU\, I was very interested because I saw how children from every part of NC of all ages came together to strive to make the world a better place. At that point\, I was sold. Seeing and knowing that there are so many kids my age\, old and younger\, were trying to do the same thing as I was\, and were succeeding because everyone had each other’s back\, drew me into SHBHU even more. I recently completed a project called Socks 4 Syria where I successfully raised over 2000 pairs of socks for Syrian refugees\, and I couldn’t have done it without SHBHU. They had my back they whole time and were constantly helping me out no matter what. I have recently started a project called Eyeglasses for India where I am collecting eyeglasses for disadvantaged people in India. I was specifically interested in working with the India Expansion group not only because I am from India and have family there\, but because my family started an orphanage and I want to help them and others in their situation as much as I can. I know that India is a very disadvantaged country in some places including where my family is and I know that I have an obligation to help them and everyone else out. That is why I am so interested and excited to lead the India Expansion Mission with Ambassador Tonya. Overall\, SHBHU is an amazing organization that I respect and enjoy and I suggest other kids all over NC to join and become a part of our caring and loving family. Please be a part of this impactful partnership to help those in India and make a donation to help us reach the goal by the end of 2017! \n

SUMMARY:Small Hander Campaign-"Flip Out for Skylar" Led by Small Hander Mia
DESCRIPTION:Hi! My name is Mia and I am a Small Hander!  Please join my team!  If you know Skylar you know she is so funny and is always laughing and flipping out over something. That is why we love her and why we want to help fight Cystic Fibrosis with her!  Last year we raised $284 through this fundraiser FLIP OUR FOR SKYLAR to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis!  Let’s beat this record this year!  We will be selling custom flip flops ALL YEAR ROUND. We will be Cobra Stitching over flip flops with dark blue\, light blue and yellow paracord. These are the colors of the Cystic Fibrosis logo. We will make these flip flops\, sell them\, fundraise and recruit members to Skylar’s Striders” CFF Walk Team NOW UNTIL the Skylar Striders CFF WALK THIS May. All we would need is of course flip flops\, paracord\, charms and TEAM MEMBERS TO MAKE THE CUSTOM FLIP FLOPS! SHBHU will provide all supplies\, we just need you to help us make and sell them!  The 2 charms we chosen are Skylar’s favorite and very meaningful to her. The 2 charms we will place on the flip flops are dragonfly’s and pinwheels. The dragonfly she says is the symbol of freedom. The other charm is a pinwheel. This is the symbol of CFF and the walk every year. Each flip will cost $3.70 to make and we will sell them for any size donation greater than that!  Date and time of next meeting to make these items and learn more about how you can help in this fundraiser is subject to SHBHU member interest. So please CONTACT SHBHU or the CONTACT page on website for more information!

SUMMARY:Ambassador PTT Campaign-Eyeglasses for India Led by Ambassador Director Safiya
DESCRIPTION:Hi\, my name is Safiya Alvi and I am 13 years old. I would like to help the people in India specifically with their sight. Not too long ago\, me and my family went to India to visit some distant relatives and a couple years back\, my family started an orphanage/school there. When I was interviewing one of the teachers\, they mentioned how there are so many people with great potential but they don’t have the basics. So\, I decided that we should do something to help all these people be the best they can be. I figured that one way we could help them is by donating old glasses or glasses frames. I know a lot of people have some just sitting around (I know I do) and those glasses can be very helpful to people who are denied such simple things. My family in India has found some local ophthalmologists there that can distribute the glasses once we get them collected and cleaned up. MyEyeDr has offered to help collect these glasses and I am very thankful to them. So I ask you to please donate any glasses/frames you have and ask others to do so as well so that we can help grant our friends in India proper eye wear. Thank you so much! If you have any questions\, please feel free to email me at: Safiya_Alvi@caryacademy.org or leave me a message at 919-200-2346 \nThe optometrist company I am using is called MyEyeDr if you needed that for the website(s) and my contact is placing the boxes in MyEyeDr offices Drop Off Locations: \n● 3214 Charles B. Root Wynd Suite 120 \n● 800 W Williams St. (Apex) \n● 3603 Davis Drive (Morrisville) \n● 8231 Brier Creek Pkwy \nPlease contact SHBHU for more information on THE CONTACT US page if you would like to be on Ambassador Director Safiya’s Team!

Please contact us if you would like to lead and assist your child in a specific cause to present at the meeting. Updates to the theme of each meeting will be posted on the website two weeks before that quarterly meeting. \nThese quarterly “Compassion meetings” are ALWAYS specifically for the following 4 reasons: \n\nThese meetings are another accessible compassion mission to welcome new and seasoned registered members and a time for them to ask seasoned Ambassadors\, seasoned Small Handers\, parents and leadership team questions about SHBHU.\nThese meetings are a time for new members to be able to share with all of us what drew them to the SHBHU mission and how they can be involved. We are as always for the community and run by the community.\nThese meetings will be an accessible opportunity for any Ambassador or Small Hander to present an “Anytime Activity” or a “Compassion Presentation” on any cause if they choose to volunteer to do that.\nThese meetings will be a regularly scheduled date and time for the Ambassador Committee to also regularly convene in a separate room for 30 minutes at some point during the evening and discuss Ambassador involvement and ideas in SHBHU.\n\n
