DESCRIPTION:The SHBHU Monthly Member Meetings are in themselves just  another accessible compassion mission opportunity for Triangle families. If a lead family is designated and topic proposed\, SHBHU will be now be organizing these meetings every 4th Thursday each month. The Small Hander meeting and the Ambassador meeting will be at the same time and location but in different rooms for better accessibility to all families especially those with both aged children. Every compassion meeting will not he help at one of the SHBHU’s In Kind Donor Church facilities (Calvary Chapel Raleigh or Swift Creek Baptist) and only periodically at the Host Family’s Home. We are very grateful for our In Kind Sponsors and their generous offers to use their locations for these Compassion Meetings. Please email us at *protected email* if you\, your Small Hander or Ambassador would like to Lead any monthly meeting with your child and designate the theme of compassion.

DESCRIPTION:Come and join SHBHU at the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina for Kids Day from 2-4PM! This day is designed specifically so that children can participate and learn how the Food Bank helps those in need throughout the triangle. A few things to remember when volunteering at the Food Bank…dress in layers because the warehouse may be chilly\, no halter tops allowed\, wear closed toed shoes\, and no food or drink in the warehouse. \nPlease bring filled out waiver with you when volunteering. DESCRIPTION:Come and join SHBHU in this compassion mission to help serve meals to those in the Downtown Raleigh area at the Oak City Outreach Center (OCOC). OCOC is the outcome of the continual efforts to provide food assistance to individuals who are experiencing homelessness and/or lack of food on a daily basis in downtown Raleigh. Their goal is to help “close the hunger gap together.” SHBHU has partnered with OCOC to help serve meals on the third Sunday of every month. Please arrive at 1:00 PM to help set up food that will e served from 1:30-2:15 and then clean up until 2:30 PM.  We will be serving food that is generously donated by another organization. However SHBHU would like to supplement this meal with beverages\, dessert\, and paper products. Once registration is full\, a sign up with items needed will be emailed to you.

SUMMARY:Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Field Gleaning
DESCRIPTION:Join SHBHU and help the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle through Field Gleaning.  This project will be harvesting excess and unmarketable produce at a local farm\, which will be distributed to community members in need. Gleaning takes about 2-3 hours and includes harvesting and hauling produce. The local farm will be determined the week before and can be up to a 45 mile drive from the Raleigh area. An online waiver will be sent out once you register. \nClosed toes shoes required.

DESCRIPTION:“Flip Out for Skylar” – If you know Skylar you know she is so funny and is always laughing and flipping out over something. That is why we love doing? We will be selling custom flip flops. We will be Cobra Stitching over flip flops with dark blue\, light blue and yellow paracord. These are the colors of the Cystic Fibrosis logo. We will start TODAY! We will make these flip flops\, sell them\, fundraise and recruit members to Skylar’s Striders” CFF Walk Team NOW UNTIL the Skylar Striders CFF WALK in May. All we would need is of course flip flops\, paracord\, charms and TEAM MEMBERS TO MAKE THE CUSTOM FLIP FLOPS! The 2 charms we chosen are Skylar’s favorite and very meaningful to her. The 2 charms we will place on the flip flops are dragonfly’s and pinwheels. The dragonfly she says is the symbol of freedom. The other charm is a pinwheel. This is the symbol of CFF and the walk every year. SUMMARY:Serving at Oak City Outreach
DESCRIPTION:Come and join SHBHU in this compassion mission to help serve meals to those in the Downtown Raleigh area at the Oak City Outreach Center (OCOC). OCOC is the outcome of the continual efforts to provide food assistance to individuals who are experiencing homelessness and/or lack of food on a daily basis in downtown Raleigh. Their goal is to help “close the hunger gap together.” SHBHU has partnered with OCOC to help serve meals on the third Sunday of every month. Please arrive at 1:00 PM to help set up food that will e served from 1:30-2:15 and then clean up until 2:30 PM.  We will be serving food that is generously donated by another organization. However SHBHU would like to supplement this meal with beverages\, dessert\, and paper products. Once registration is full\, a sign up with items needed will be emailed to you.

SUMMARY:Chapter Cheer at Ronald McDonald House
DESCRIPTION:Story and Craft with the siblings of the child who is in the hospital and possibly the children who are receiving care at the hospital too. The Ronald McDonald House has asked SHBHU to have no more than 6 people including parents at one time so that we can maintain flexibility and maintain a calm\, relaxing atmosphere for the families staying there. We have had a great success so far with the first two events and the children there are really enjoying hanging out with our small handers.

DESCRIPTION:Come to the Hearts and Hugs Across Boards Compassion Mission to loom hats for the babies in Hait for the Hope for Haiti Midwife Project. All looming supplies and instructions will be provided. No experience is needed\, just compassion for others. \nThe Small Handers and Ambassadors will also be collecting supplies for our friend Kim Sniffen who is a midwife traveling to Haiti in December to deliver babies there.
