DESCRIPTION:Calling all SHBHU Families! \nWe have an URGENT NEED for Ambassadors and Small Handers for the “Flip Out For Skylar” Compassion Mission! \nThe Wake Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides Walk is May 14th! The Skylar’s Striders Team registration link will be sent out soon. We need walkers and volunteers! HOWEVER. we have an URGENT NEED! We need Ambassadors and Small Handers to help the Davis Family\, tie dye the Skylar’s Striders Team t-shirts over this upcoming week! We already have the white t-shirts purchased but we need help getting the t-shirts rolled\, rubber banded\, soaked in soda ash\, tie dyed\, rinsed and dried! \nIt’s a big task but MANY ways you can volunteer! \nSee the tie dyeing instructions\, the instructional video\, the volunteer opportunities and donation list BELOW. Please let us know asap how your Ambassadors and Small Handers can help! The Davis Family needs to get the Team Name stenciled on them before May 14th so we need all the help we can get to get these t-shirts ready for that step! \nVolunteer Opportunities: \n-Volunteers needed to help ROLL and DYE Skylar’s Striders Team tie dyed t-shirts. Let us know the number you can manage. \n– We can drop off the t-shirts\, rubber bands and soda ash. For some of the Seniors in our area\, their pets are the only family they may have! Did you know that the SPCA of Wake County supplies Meals on Wheels with pet food so that their furry companions receive the meals they need too! SHBHU Ambassadors and Small Handers have now formed a compassion mission to help out too! \nThere are 2 unique ways you can help! \n#1 We will be packing breakfast bags for our Seniors in need in partnership with Meals on Wheels. If you can volunteer to pack and decorate any amount of breakfast bags that would be fantastic! If you would just like to donate the food items that is great too! Meals on Wheels are requesting a juicebox\, a fruit\, a package of instant oatmeal and a granola bar in each bag. DATE TO BE DETERMINED \n#2 We also have here is a list of specific items the SPCA and Meals on Wheels are requesting for their Senior’s furry companions who bring them so much joy. DESCRIPTION:The lead Ambassadors and Small Handers in the Hearts to Smiles commitee are focused on nurturing compassion to others by providing Compassion Missions that INCLUDE ANY AND EVERYONE to simply make them smile. This committee believes no act of kindness is too small and that everyone can bring smiles and love to those who may be experiencing difficulty\, who are ill\, or  have feelings of isolation. One team has a Compassion Mission called “Flip Out for Skylar” and they have been leading and growing this for 9 years now.  Skylar is a founding member of SHBHU\, a friend\, role model and inspiration. She has Cystic Fibrosis but she doesn’t let that define her. She is an example to ALL who meet her of how to be a leader\, show compassion to others and live a life with purpose.   \nThe CF foundation supports the development of new drugs to fight the disease\, improve the quality of life for people with CF\, and ultimately find a cure for Skylar. This commitee will raise money to help do this year round.  \nThey have made bracelets\, custom winter hats and flip flops.  If you have an idea of something to make and sell let them know! They make these items in the colors of the Cystic Fibrosis logo to remind people of the cause\, to FIND A CURE for CF!  They try to sell them ALL YEAR ROUND to help raise money for the Skylar Strides CF Walk Team.   \nSHBHU will supply you with all that you need or you can host a small group at your home and a Lead Ambassador will instruct your group on how to make the hats and flip flops!  \n

SUMMARY:Serving Smiles at Oak City Cares
DESCRIPTION:Join SHBHU on the third Sunday of every month serving meals with a smile to those experiencing homelessness in the Downtown Raleigh area. OCC is the result of many organizations working together in an effort to help close the hunger gap! SHBHU volunteers will bring food\, drinks\, take home snacks and paper products to help support the main meal. Volunteers arrive at OCC at 1:00pm to help set up the food line and we are usually finished cleaning up about 2:30pm. Volunteers will receive an email a couple days prior with specifics on what to bring with them. Any age can volunteer and serve with a smile!

SUMMARY:Stacking Shelves with Love at Catholic Parish Outreach Raleigh Food Pantry
DESCRIPTION:Join SHBHU for Kids Day at CPO Raleigh Food Pantry from 9:30-12:30. Volunteers will be sorting\, re-packing \, and or stocking food items to help prepare them for local families in need. Once groceries are prepared for each family\, they are carted out and delivered. When registering please indicate number of children only. Any questions can be directed to patti@shbhu.org.
