DESCRIPTION:SHBHU “Breakfast Bags of Love” \n\nAmbassadors would like to know if y0u can help pack and decorate these breakfast bags for our Senior Citizens in need and their pet compasions in our community.\n\nDid you know that ¼ of Senior Citizens live alone with their pet as their only companion? Animal companionship is proven to be a powerful relationship that prevents depression and loneliness. However\, as people age\, caring for an animal can become more difficult physically and financially. These bags we call “breakfast bags of love” not only include food to start their day but also include food for their pet companion. When Senior Citizens are looked out for and receive proper nutrition\, they can care for their animal companions in the way they deserve.  Each of these bags (and donations for their pet companions) contained a morning meal that hopefully takes a little pressure off these Senior Citizens in need.  This community is often overlooked and often does not want to be a burden. It can be easy to think a Senior Citizen is doing fine when they are not. While a colorful snack bag can’t solve all the problems the elderly are facing\, it can put a smile on their face and assure that they are seen and that someone cares for them. If you are interested in helping with this Compassion Mission please contact Ambassador Isabella at isapease@gmail.com. \n\nWe need donations which you can order at the SHBHU AMAZON wish list link below\, you can volunteer to pack and decorate bags in your own home or you can volunteer to deliver the bags to Meals on Wheels when they are completed.  We will be packing all month at home and also hopefully having another Compassion Meeting in May to pack and decorate bags as well.  We also need a Delivery Family to volunteer to bring bags to MOW in Raleigh on May 15th Please contact us if interested at info@shbhu.org\n\nCheck out these sweet “Breakfast Bags of Love” for our Senior Citizens in need that the youth from The Ethos School made for this ongoing Compassion Mission for Meals on Wheels. DESCRIPTION:Flip Out for Skylar Compassion Mission!\nJOIN SKYLAR’S STRIDERS TEAM TODAY!\nWALK DAY May 18\, 2024\n\nWe have our annual volunteer service opportunity set for all SHBHU families and supporters to help out with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides Walk coming up on May 18th! The SHBHU Flip Out for Skylar compassion team has fundraised and supported the Skylar’s Striders team since 2013.  You can donate and or register to walk at this team’s link below.  \nThis year\, we are in need of VOLUNTEERS\, WALKERS\, FUNDRAISERS\, or all of the above now until walk day on May 18th! We appreciate your support through the years and many have expressed interest in other areas on how to help our SHBHU kids. \nAs many of you know\, Skylar Davis is one of our founding SHBHU members and was the original Ambassador Teen President. Skylar\, is now 22 years old\, has Cystic Fibrosis and has been speaking for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation since she was 13. Skylar is part of the Central-Eastern Carolina’s Chapter in Raleigh and has nonsense/rare mutations that make her part of the 10% of people who do not benefit from modulator therapy. This inspiring human has also recently been chosen to be a 2024-2025 Area Ambassador for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation! Despite her disease\, Skylar is an accomplished dual-athlete for her university\, playing Lacrosse and a cheerleader at Pfeiffer University. She is graduating May 11th! Congrats Skylar! \nLet’s all support this fierce advocate in raising money and registering to be part of her Skylar’s Striders team and walk with her on May 18th! \nDo you need a Skylar’s Striders T-shirt?
