Small Hands Big Hearts United is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to nurture children’s instinctive compassion to others and the world around them. SHBHU creates additional community volunteer opportunities and also supports programs, called “compassion missions’ that are sparked by the minds of Small Handers and Ambassador Teens throughout the Triangle. These programs are made accessible logistically, financial, without time restraints and without age restrictions. SHBHU has a mission to help nurture the next kind, compassion and philanthropic generation leading the world.
SHBHU Compassion Committees
Hearts and Hugs Across Borders: These members propose and lead Compassion Mission across borders. Some have provided rice to malnourished children in Thailand, school supplies and Christmas gifts to children at a youth center in Dominican Republic, Brighter Future School in India, socks to Syrian refugees and ongoing fundraising to support children in Haiti. Many more Small Handers and Ambassadors have proposed and led many other amazing and inspiring global compassion missions
Hearts to Tables: The families in this committee partner with the North Carolina Food Bank, Raliegh Food Pantry and Oak City Outreach to provide support and goods through neighborhood food drives and direct assistance to those in need at these facilities.
Hearts to Smiles: The families in this committee partner with the Ronald McDonald House, “Buddy Program” for children with special needs, seniors and US soldiers
