I have been involved with Small Hands Big Hearts United since it started. I love that we have fun and get to help people at the same time. My favorite compassion mission is Hats for Haiti because we learn how to knit hats and meet new friends. I like knowing that the babies in Haiti will be wearing the hats I make and that we will be helping them. It is important to help others and that is what Small Hands Big Hearts is all about!
Small Hands Big Hearts has allowed to me to experience a lot. My favorite compassion mission is the food drive because friends and family work together to stop hunger. We collected over 60 bags of food. We took the bags to the Food Bank in Raleigh so they could pass out the food to families who needed it the most.
Small Hands Big Hearts has helped many people. My favorite compassion mission was the Dove Missions Backpack Drive. We collected school supplies for children in the Dominican Republic and packed them in backpacks to send over. It was cool to see the picture of all the kids with their backpacks.
I wanted to figure out a way to help the community, and I love working with kids. Before, I had no way to do this by myself. Now, together, we can get to those who need help. I just love the experience of helping people, and seeing the happiness on their face.
I have cystic fibrosis and everybody helps me, so it’s my responsibility to give back to the community. As a Small Hands ambassador, I get to teach younger children that this is a way of life, this is how you should help.
