Veterans Day approaching! Does your Small Hander have too much candy leftover from Halloween? Donate your leftovers to the military! Operation Eagle in Morrisville will include them in care packages being sent overseas. All Small Handers you have until 3:00pm TOMORROW to drop off candy! Story and Crafts with the siblings of the child who is in the hospital and possibly the children who are receiving care at the hospital too. The Ronald McDonald House has asked SHBHU to have no more than 6 people including parents at one time so that we can maintain flexibility and maintain a calm, relaxing atmosphere for the families staying there. Attending families will be responsible for bringing crafts, craft supplies, and books.

Unfortunately our partner who is providing the U-Haul for donation distribution has to come by for pick up early in the morning on Friday.  Any kids who are tracked out and want to help email Anita Pease at for the time. Come and join SHBHU in this compassion mission to help serve meals to those in the Downtown Raleigh area at the Oak City Outreach Center (OCOC). OCOC is the outcome of the continual efforts to provide food assistance to individuals who are experiencing homelessness and/or lack of food on a daily basis in downtown Raleigh. Their goal is to help "close the hunger gap together." SHBHU has partnered with OCOC to help serve meals on the third Sunday of every month. Small Handers and Ambassadors!   You are invited to participate in Downtown Cary’s The Gifting Tree Project, a Christmas Tree Decorating Contest in Downtown Cary!  SHBHU children have made beautiful ornaments and will be decorating one of the Christmas trees that will line Academy Street. Decorated trees will be on display through the end of December.  The public will be casting their vote on their favorite tree between December 3rd-December 17th. Calling all Small Handers and Ambassadors to walk in the Cary Christmas Parade with us to spread the mission of SHBHU and JUST HAVE SOME FUN! Let's all come together and put the finishing touches on all the shoe boxes that have been donated! Deliver your shoe boxes. Bring gently used or new gifts that will fit in a shoe box and we will fill boxes for names that have not been provided for yet. The goal is 140 shoe boxes!
