Come to the Hearts and Hugs Across Boards Compassion Mission to loom hats for the babies in Hait for the Hope for Haiti Midwife Project. All looming supplies and instructions will be provided. No experience is needed, just compassion for others. The Small Handers and Ambassadors will also be collecting supplies for our friend Kim Sniffen who is a midwife traveling to Haiti in December to deliver babies there. Story and Craft with the siblings of the child who is in the hospital and possibly the children who are receiving care at the hospital too. The Ronald McDonald House has asked SHBHU to have no more than 6 people including parents at one time so that we can maintain flexibility and maintain a calm, relaxing atmosphere for the families staying there. We have had a great success so far with the first two events and the children there are really enjoying hanging out with our small handers.

Come and join SHBHU in this compassion mission to help serve meals to those in the Downtown Raleigh area at the Oak City Outreach Center (OCOC). OCOC is the outcome of the continual efforts to provide food assistance to individuals who are experiencing homelessness and/or lack of food on a daily basis in downtown Raleigh. Their goal is to help "close the hunger gap together." SHBHU has partnered with OCOC to help serve meals on the third Sunday of every month. Join SHBHU and help the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle through Field Gleaning.  This project will be harvesting excess and unmarketable produce at a local farm, which will be distributed to community members in need. Gleaning takes about 2-3 hours and includes harvesting and hauling produce. The local farm will be determined the week before and can be up to a 45 mile drive from the Raleigh area. An online waiver will be sent out once you register. Closed toes shoes required.
