Dear SHBHU Families,   It’s Ambassador President Safiya here!

Thank you for your quick response in compassion to my last email. Just another update here on some progress and some details on some NEW volunteer opportunities!

First off!
WOW!  SLEEPING MATS!
Look at what Ambassador Director is making for the homeless in our community! Sleeping mats!  “I wanted to make the mats because it reuses plastic bags and provides comfort to those who do not have the best sleeping conditons.”   Wow! What a compassionate idea Ambassador Tonya!

Serving Smiles…
but this time with an EXTRA GIFT for those at Oak City Cares from Pinnacle Branding!

The generous company, Pinnacle Branding donated 10+ boxes of brand new t-shirts, collard shirts, hoodies and many other various items to assist with the SHBHU mission. We are so thankful to this company for their kindness AND so are those that received them during our Serving Smiles compassion mission at Oak City Cares this past SUNDAY!  SHBHU families volunteered to deliver these shirts and over 180+ bagged lunches for those in need. Thank you to all the families that have participated in this compassion mission this month and thank youPINNACLE BRANDING!

Other nonprofits who ALSO received some shirts and sweatshirts were Note in the Pocket, Dorcas Ministry and Salvation Army. A few Ambassadors even passed some shirts and bagged lunches out to people in need in Moores Square in downtown Raleigh. SHBHU families and our generous donors really come together to show compassion at a moment’s notice!

Compassionate Closets is back!

We are being told that as of right now our partners at Note in the Pocket can handle small groups of 10 at their temporary secondary LARGER location at Crossroads Fellowship. They are asking each volunteer to review their COVID-19 safety protocol before registering as a new volunteer.  Masks are required in the building and the space is configured so that individual volunteer stations are spaced 10 feet apart.  Their shifts are now 9am-Noon and 1-4pm. Their greatest need for volunteers is Thursday and Friday mornings, as well as Monday-Thursday afternoons. Anyone can learn more about their Covid response HERE. Let us know if you are interested in this committee.

NEW COMPASSION MISSION PROPOSAL!  – High Five With Love

A Covid-19 response mission called High Five With Love Compassion Mission is being led by the Ambassador Passing the Torch program!

This team is being led by Ambassador(s) Isabella, Anne Marie, Tony and Mia. Email SHBHU if you want to join this tea. They have proposed a mission to help the Wake County Human Services. WCHS is helping local families who do not have sufficient access to many basic household and personal care resources during this pandemic. The SHBHU Ambassador Teens and Small Handers want to help! Getting supplies like these has been very difficult for many families throughout this Covid-19 pandemic.

The SHBHU High Five Compassion Mission Team will be challenging everyone to “give a high five to each other” AFTER you have volunteered to make 5 kits on your own.

WHY the high five you ask?

Afterwards, SHBHU funds will be used to MATCH those 5 kits!  If anyone can also just assemble the kits, this team can drop off the requested items at your house. All you need to do is pack the kids, write a sweet compassion note for each, drop the kits off at one of the designated drop off and take pictures so we can share and encourage more families to participate!

Please email /" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">SHBHU HERE if you are interested in helping. We will then give you more details on how to obtain the supplies and the the addresses of the accessible drop off locations.
